Apple lists four iPhone Duo screenshot dimensions: two for the outer display and two for the inner display. Shipper supports inner-display portrait and landscape exports with six optional 3D device poses.

Apple's accepted iPhone Duo screenshot sizes

Apple's screenshot specifications list four dimensions for iPhone Duo. Each display has a portrait and a landscape option:

Outer display, portrait: 1398 × 2034 px.

Outer display, landscape: 2034 × 1398 px.

Inner display, portrait: 2007 × 2853 px.

Inner display, landscape: 2853 × 2007 px.

These dimensions describe the final screenshot file, not the size or orientation of a device illustration placed inside your design. Apple accepts one to ten screenshots per device size, as JPEG or PNG files without alpha transparency.

Inner display and outer display are different app states

The outer display is the screen used when iPhone Duo is closed. The inner display is available when the device is unfolded. They have different shapes, and your app may rearrange its interface as the device opens or closes.

Apple explains that apps built with newer SDKs can resize as the device changes configuration. Test the actual layout and capture what users can really do on each screen. A larger canvas is not evidence that an app already works well when unfolded. See Apple's iPhone Duo preparation guidance.

For marketing screenshots, decide which real experience you want to show before choosing an orientation. If you want to represent the unfolded layout, use a genuine inner-display capture as your source, then add editable headlines and supporting design elements around it.

Six Shipper device poses do not mean six screenshot sizes

Shipper includes six iPhone Duo 3D mockup Poses: Outer, Inner, Seated, Standing, Book, and Landscape. The mockup also has Fold Angle and Perspective controls, with Night Sky and Star White finishes. These are ways to present the device inside an editable screenshot composition.

By contrast, Shipper's current iPhone Duo export specs are only the two inner-display sizes: 2007 × 2853 px for portrait and 2853 × 2007 px for landscape. Shipper does not currently offer the outer-display export sizes listed by Apple.

Choosing the Outer mockup pose does not turn an inner-display canvas into a 1398 × 2034 px outer-display export. If you also need files for the outer display, prepare and check those separately.

Capture real iPhone Duo screens before designing

Open your app in the iPhone Duo simulator included with Xcode 27.1 and inspect the unfolded and folded layouts. Apple's device-preparation guide identifies the iPhone Duo simulator as the preferred way to test the native experience. Check clipped content, navigation, toolbars, and what happens when the available space changes.

Capture the app screens you want to feature. A source capture is a record of your app's interface. A finished App Store screenshot is the larger composition containing that capture, optional device mockups, and editable explanatory text. Shipper can edit the composition, but it does not turn words baked into a source image into editable text.

Apple's screenshot review guidance says the majority of screenshots for each device should show your real app in use. Treat mockups and messages as supporting context, not replacements for an accurate interface.

Prepare an editable Duo set in Shipper

Start a project with a template or blank canvas. Bring in your actual app captures, choose the iPhone Duo inner-display portrait or landscape spec, and build your screenshot story with editable text, mockups, colors, and assets. Use a pose only when it helps explain the feature you are showing.

Already have screenshots for another supported iPhone spec? Adaptive Screenshot Specs can carry the existing composition into a Duo inner-display canvas. The result is a starting point, not a promise of a flawless automatic layout. Inspect spacing, text size, cropping, mockup position, and whether the source screen remains truthful.

Design, adaptation, and watermark-free PNG export are included in Shipper Free. You can keep the project editable for another release or localization.

Check the final files against Apple's requirements

Before exporting, check that the selected canvas matches the intended inner-display orientation and that the PNG has the expected pixel dimensions. Keep important interface details readable; verify the actual product experience rather than inventing controls or features to fill space.

Apple accepts JPEG and PNG screenshots and does not allow alpha channels. Review each locale separately when screenshot text changes, and use localized app captures if the original capture itself contains language-dependent text. Consult Apple's latest screenshot specification table before submission, especially for outer-display assets that are not currently covered by Shipper.

As of October 27, 2026, Apple's reference says iPhone Duo screenshots become required in April 2027 for apps using the iOS 27.1 SDK or later. This future rule is separate from the pixel dimensions discussed here.

Export in Free or send to App Store Connect with PRO

Use Shipper Free to export the finished inner-display screenshot set as PNG files. With Shipper PRO, you can select supported screenshot sets, localizations, and metadata for App Store Connect Publishing. Review the exact destination and selection before sending anything.

Sending screenshots to App Store Connect is not the same as submitting the app for App Review or releasing a public update. Apple handles asset processing and review separately. Its upload guidance explains the submission-side workflow.

If you want to start from an existing design, explore Shipper's editable screenshot adaptation and choose the iPhone Duo inner-display spec that matches your intended layout.

Your questions, covered

Does Shipper support iPhone Duo screenshots?

Yes. Shipper supports iPhone Duo inner-display screenshots in portrait (2007 × 2853 px) and landscape (2853 × 2007 px). It also includes six 3D mockup poses for designing your screenshots. Outer-display export dimensions are not currently supported.

How can I make sure my iPhone Duo screenshots meet App Store requirements?

Shipper makes it easier by providing ready-to-use iPhone Duo canvas sizes that match Apple's inner-display screenshot specifications. You can design, adapt, and preview your screenshots without manually setting dimensions. Once you're happy with the result, export your screenshots or use Shipper PRO to send them directly to App Store Connect.

Can I reuse my existing iPhone screenshots for iPhone Duo?

Yes! With Shipper’s Adaptive Duplicate feature, you can adapt your existing screenshot designs to iPhone Duo while preserving the foundations of your composition. You may still need to fine-tune a few details, adjust the layout, or replace the screenshots inside your device mockups to reflect the unfolded experience. But most of the design work is usually already done, so you don’t have to start from scratch.

Can I upload iPhone Duo screenshots directly to App Store Connect with Shipper?

Yes. With Shipper PRO, you can send supported screenshot assets and metadata to App Store Connect. You can also design and export screenshots for free. Sending assets does not submit your app for App Review or make changes publicly available automatically.
