Apple says submitting iPhone Duo screenshots makes a Made for iPhone Duo badge appear on your App Store product page. Here's how to check your app, prepare honest assets, and submit them.
What triggers the Made for iPhone Duo badge?
Apple says that when you submit iPhone Duo screenshots in App Store Connect, your App Store product page will display a badge identifying the app as optimized for iPhone Duo. This is an App Store indicator controlled by Apple, not an image to add to a screenshot or a setting to switch on in Shipper.
The wording matters: preparing an image is not the same as submitting it, and submitting screenshots is not the same as receiving App Review approval or publishing a new version. Apple's iPhone Duo guidance describes the badge, while its screenshot reference lists the supported file dimensions.
Treat the badge as the visible result to verify on your live product page. Do not assume that exporting a screenshot, uploading an unsubmitted asset, or creating a Duo-style mockup makes it appear.
First, make sure your app is ready for iPhone Duo
A badge is useful only when the app genuinely supports the experience shown. Apple says apps built with the iOS 27.1 SDK or later can use the full iPhone Duo display, while older SDK versions have more limited layouts. Building with a newer SDK does not excuse broken resizing.
Before making marketing screenshots, test your actual app using the iPhone Duo simulator in Xcode 27.1. Unfold and fold the device, change orientations, and check whether navigation bars, toolbars, content and touch targets stay usable. Apple's three-step preparation guide explains how to identify hardcoded sizes and other resizing assumptions.
Shipper cannot compile your app or fix its UI. Its job begins with genuine captures from an app whose behavior you have checked.
Capture genuine Duo screenshots, then design around them
Capture the app in the simulator using the display and orientation you intend to present. A screenshot source shows the real interface. A finished App Store screenshot can add editable headlines, backgrounds, device mockups and other design elements around that source.
For the badge workflow, focus on iPhone Duo screenshots rather than a generic iPhone image placed inside a foldable-device mockup. Shipper currently supports two inner-display screenshot specs: portrait at 2007 × 2853 px and landscape at 2853 × 2007 px. Outer-display exports are not currently available in Shipper.
If you need the full inner-versus-outer breakdown, see our guide to iPhone Duo screenshot sizes. That guide also explains why a mockup pose is different from a screenshot's export dimensions.
Use Shipper to adapt your design and prepare the files
Start with an existing iPhone screenshot design or a new project in Shipper. Adaptive Screenshot Specs can preserve the foundations of an existing composition as you adapt it to a supported iPhone Duo spec. You may still need to adjust spacing or text and replace the app image inside the mockup with a real unfolded capture. The resulting project stays editable.
Choose a device pose only for its visual purpose. Poses such as Inner, Book or Standing change the presentation of the 3D device, not the exported screenshot dimensions. Check the actual interface in the mockup before treating the design as ready.
With Shipper Free, you can design, adapt and export PNG screenshots without a watermark. Shipper PRO adds the ability to send supported screenshots and metadata to App Store Connect. Neither Shipper nor Shipper PRO includes the external work required to compile, test or submit an app for review.
Submit the screenshots and check the public product page
In App Store Connect, open the relevant app version and its screenshot section. Select the iPhone Duo device size and localization when available, then upload your verified files. Apple explains the upload path and editable submission states in Upload app previews and screenshots. Its Asset Library guide distinguishes uploaded assets from their placement in an app version.
If you prefer to avoid a separate manual transfer, connect the correct Target App in Shipper and use Shipper PRO to send the supported iPhone Duo screenshots to App Store Connect. Review the destination app, locale, selected specs and final files before shipping. Shipper's App Store Connect publishing workflow sends supported assets and metadata; it does not submit a build for App Review or make a version publicly available.
After the relevant assets and app version have completed Apple's submission and release process, open your public App Store product page on an appropriate device and check whether the Made for iPhone Duo badge is actually visible. If not, confirm the correct iPhone Duo screenshot slot, submission status and published version before drawing a conclusion. Do not interpret a successful upload alone as proof that the badge is live.
What changes in April 2027?
Apple's current screenshot specifications say that starting in April 2027, iPhone Duo screenshots will be required for apps using the iOS 27.1 SDK or later. This is a future submission requirement, separate from the badge guidance available today.
Preparing the correct Duo screenshots now gives you reusable, editable assets for later updates. Keep the source captures current, check any new Apple requirements at submission time, and revisit the compositions when the app's interface changes.
